Home Sweet Gnome

This session was our first session during the school holidays and was held at The Mount Junior School. Although it was cold, it was dry and bright.

After a lunch of tomato soup, hot dogs and baked beans cooked on an open fire the children set about making their gnomes. Small pieces of wood were sharpened to a point using sheath knives and then a small piece of bark removed to make a face. Then the gnome was painted and cones and sycamore seeds used to make a woodland home for the gnome. Many homes also included a pond so the gnome could follow their favourite pastime – fishing! The session finished with biscuits, drinks and games of hide and seek.
