Munching Minibeasts

The dreadful summer weather continues but we managed to get down to the wood for the first part of this session.

Our first task was to make a bee/insect hotel. We cut garden canes into lengths using saws and secateurs. Next the creative bit – we had to think of name for our hotel and decorate a piece of paper. Finally the hotel was put together using an empty plastic bottle and elastic band. We made a hotel each and one to hang up in the woods.

It was very muddy in the woods and the pond is flooded again so we decided food inside was a better option! We made caterpillar tortillas rolls using a recipe from Nature Detectives. They were delicious and were the perfect end to a busy morning.
