With the Winter Solstice only days away this session was an opportunity to make some candles to provide light during the dark nights of winter.
Candle wax was melted over an open fire and then the children dipped their wick into the wax over and over again until they had made a candle. Stopping at just the right moment is really important before your candle breaks.
The children also made some cosy winter shelters for the animals who are hibernating during the winter. Hot chocolate and butterfly buns were enjoyed by all and everyone was looking forward to Christmas and lighting their candles.
